
What Coverages Are Allowed In The Shriram Accidental Death & Disability Income Rider?
Accidental Death
If the life insured suffers an accident during the policy tenure and passes away within 180 days of such an accident, the rider sum assured will be paid in a lump sum.
Permanent Total Disability
If the life insured faces an accidental injury during the policy tenure and suffers a permanent and total disability within 180 days of such an injury, the rider sum assured will be paid in a lump sum.
The disability benefit is paid if the following conditions are met -
- The life insured cannot work or be employed for an income following the accidental injury.
- The life insured loses sight in both eyes or suffers the loss of both hands or both legs or the loss of one hand and one leg.
- The life insured cannot perform three or more basic lifestyle activities after the accidental injury, such as dressing, washing, mobility, feeding, toileting, etc.
In the case of senior citizens, the disability benefit is paid if either of the aforementioned conditions is met. However, for individuals below 60 years of age, the disability benefit is paid if either of the last two criteria is met.
